What APKs actually are
An APK is an Android installer. Ones shared on WhatsApp are outside the app-store security review. If the APK requests permissions for accessibility, SMS reading, or overlays, treat that as a red flag, those are the permissions used to intercept OTPs and drain bank apps.
Safer path
Open the platform's website in Chrome. Use 'Add to Home screen' to make it feel like an app. You get the same functionality without installing a binary.
